Trail Itinerary

Srinagar
Participants arrived in Srinagar. The trail started with an iontroductory session with the Experience Architect Marryam Reshhi followed by Shikara ride.
Day 2
Day 2 started with a visit to the vegetable market in Dal lake for shopping followed by a session on the art of dogra cuisine
Day 3
Participants enjoyed breakfast in the midst of the tulip gardens followed by a muslim wazwan.
Day 4
Participants explored the beauty of Gulmarg, prepared themselves a pandit wazwan for dinner
Day 5
The trail culminated with lunch at a local dhaba followed by the departure of the participants

About The Trail

15 travel and food enthusiasts were given a chance to live their passion on a 5-day culinary trail through Kashmir, guided by food critic Marryam H Reshii. So whether on a houseboat enjoying kahwa or being paddled on a shikara through the impossibly exotic dal vegetable market, to the fields of saffron and groves of walnut trees, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for them. Each day of the trail was a new experience, guided by Marryam, they got to see the Kashmiri cuisine first hand like never before. They covered Kashmir in a way no one had done before. They met local experts, Kashmiri celebrities and cooks and got familiar with the nuisances of Kashmiri cuisine.

Marryam Reshhi

Marryam H Reshii has been writing about food and lifestyle for the last 30 years. She is the Times of India food critic besides being an independent writer on cuisine and matters gastronomic. She has been working on the Times Food Guide for Delhi for the last seven years. In addition, she has done a number of books for the Times Group Books imprint, notable chefs and pairing food with Scotch whisky. Food history interests her greatly, as do spices as a subject.

She is fond of travelling the world to explore culinary trends, to discover long forgotten food stories, obscure ingredients and to revel in the connection between a land, its people, culture and cuisine.

Being married to a Kashmiri, Marryam is doing her bit to research lost recipes of the Valley. Her dream is to set up a museum of kitchens of India, complete with vessels, recipes and ingredients. She lives in Delhi with her husband and two children.
