Ahmedabad which is also known as Amdavad is the largest city in Gujarat. It is endowed with a rich architectural heritage that is vital to the local identity of the place. This city is colourful, full of lights, and has a rich heritage. The seeds of prosperity of the city were sown by Sheth Ranchhodlal Chhotalal by establishing the first textile mill in the city. This February 2018, let's explore the historical streets of the city and capture innumerable stories, conversations and expressions of the place.

Day 1 (17th March, 2018)

12:30 am - 1:30 pm
Participants assemble at The House of MG and meet Debashish Nayak; Followed by a welcome note by the Minister for Tourism

2:15 pm – 5:00 pm
Participants to begin from the House of MG one of the most beautifully restored Haveli’s in the town. Followed by which we move to Siddi Saiyad Jali Mosque, Rani no Hajiro, Sarkhej Roza, Sabarmati River Front. Also Explore the the largest utensil collections museum 'Vechaar' at Vishala

Participants assemble at Swaminarayan Temple Kalupur followed by a brief introduction by Debashish Nayak

9:30 am - 1:00 pm
Commence the 'Mandir to Masjid’ heritage walk covering Poet Dalpatram Memorial Chowk, Zaveri Wad Corner, Sambhavnath Ni Khidki and many more

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Lunch

Continue with the walk capturing the other heritage sights like Chaumukhji ni Pol, Harkunwar Shethani ni Haveli, Fernandez Bridge, Manek Chowk culminating at Jumma Masjid

Debashish Nayak is an architect who has more than two decades of experience in managing urban conservation issues of historic cities in India and abroad. He is the founder-director, Centre for Heritage Management of Ahmedabad University. He has been the advisor to the heritage programmes in the Municipal Corporations of various cities including Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Amritsar, Old Delhi, Lucknow, Pondicherry etc, as well as to the Indian Heritage Cities Network launched by UNESCO, India.

He was also the Gujarat State Project Co-ordinator for National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities, and member of the National Committee on Conservation Policy, Archaeological Survey of India. In 2015, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Governor of West Bengal. He has recently been awarded "The Spirit of Ahmedabad" award by Chief Minister of Gujarat for his contribution in protection of city's heritage.

The participants are expected to be in Ahmedabad on March 17,2018 by 11:00 am.
The participants are requested to report at Agashiya, House of MG, Bhadra Road, Opp. Sidi Saiyad Jali, Lal Darwaja, Ahmedabad, Gujarat 380001 by 11:00 am.
It is recommended that the participants should be carrying a Digital Single Lens Camera.
Yes, the participant coming from outside Ahmedabad will be given a pick up (on March 17,2018) from the Airport/Railway station to the venue and drop post the culmination of the trail on March 18,2018.
The accommodation provided for the participants is a comfortable 3 star or above property. Please note, that the cost mentioned for with accommodation option is on twin sharing basis.
There is no specific dress code, however, we recommend you to be in comfortable clothes and footwear as the trail would happen mostly on foot.
We have a team of panelists who along with the Experience Architect who select the final participants from the registered participants.
The selected participants will receive an email along with the payment link where they can pay and confirm their participation.
The selected participants will receive the time wise plan of each day along with the point of contact for the trail via email/phone call within 24 hours of completing the payment.
The trail cost includes:
  • Meals
  • Transport
  • Entry fees (wherever applicable)
  • Camera fees (wherever applicable)
  • Accommodation (if opted for)
Once the payment is made by the participants, the participation can be cancelled only within 72 hours without any cancellation charges and the full amount will be refunded. However, if the cancellation request is received after 72 hours of making the payment, there will be no refund.
