Padma Priya was introduced to cycling in March 2014 with no sports background in the last 38 years. She took to the sport immediately with commitment and passion. She participates in individual time trials and team trials conducted by various Cycling Clubs in Tamil Nadu and Bangalore. In the cycling world she has set a very high bench mark and continues to do so at a blistering pace. She was crowned as the ladies champion for the year 2014-15 by Tamilnadu Cycling Club. She has also been crowned as a Super Randonneur, successfully completing the entire Randonneur series of 200 km, 300km, 400km, 600km and 1000km rides within the calendar year, recognized by the Audax Club Parisien, France – the organisation that oversees the awards of BRMs becoming a Super Randonneur, a no mean achievement for anyone.
She is the only lady in India to complete 1000km bicycle ride within a stipulated time of 75hrs. She demonstrates her complete dedication to the sport by also cycling more than 50kms as part of her commute to work every day – thereby setting herself as an inspiration to many a cyclists, both female and male.
