The Times Passion Temple Food Trail took readers on a fascinating ‘Food for the soul journey’ led by Mr. Pushpesh Pant as our Experience Architect.
The journey included taking a sneak peek into the ‘Kitchen of the Gods’ and finding out how divine food is prepared in the temples of India.
Here are the list of experiences you'll get to live on the trail
Times Passion Temple Food Trail began with a group of 25 participants led by our Experience Architect, Padma Shri Dr. Pushpesh Pant.
Day 1 - Delhi (27th August, 2016)
Participants visited the Jagannath Temple in Delhi, explored its premises and enjoyed temple food as part of their dinner
Day 2 - Mathura (28th August, 2016)
The next day, participants travelled to Mathura where they visited Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple. This was followed by a visit to the Banke Bihari Temple, followed by satvik dinner at ISCKON Temple.
Day 3 - Jaipur (29th August, 2016)
The next stop was the Pink City of India –Jaipur. The participants visited the Govind Devji Temple and attended a soul stirring Sandhya aarti there. The day ended with a heavenly dinner prepared at the temple itself.
Day 4 - Udaipur (30th August, 2016)
On the fourth day, we will be travelling to Udaipur. On reaching there, we will head to Nathdwara and attend the dazzling Rajbhog Aarti at Shrinathji Temple. Then, we will fly out to Delhi/Mumbai from where all the participants can take their onward journey back home.
Pushpesh Pant is a noted Indian academic, food critic and historian. He retired as a Professor of International relations from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. He is one of India's leading experts on International Relations as well as Indian cuisine, and as a columnist has written for a number of major publications like Forbes, Open, Outlook, Times of India and The Tribune.
Professor Pant has a teaching experience of 32 years at the Delhi University and the Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has supervised over 25 PhD and 75 M.Phil. Degree holders. He has served on the Court of JNU as well as on the Executive and Academic Councils. He has published widely on travel and tourism, with over a dozen books to his credit.
His book, India: The Cookbook (2011) was named by The New York Times as one of the best cookbooks of the year. The Government of India awarded him the civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2016.
